Ÿnsect conceives
an unprecedented genotyping chip

for insect farming

Ÿnsect, whose R&D center is located at Genopole, has created a first-ever high-density genotyping chip for insect farming. With the chip, the company’s objective is to select the Tenebrio molitor mealworms best suited for the development of insect farms requiring less water and inputs. The genotyping chip was developed with Thermo Fisher using a reference genome established by Genoscope. It targets genetic characteristics associated with growth, reproduction, nutrition conversion and disease resistance. Ÿnsect intends to make the chip available to academic research.
