PROTOPIA

Protopia is Genopole’s next initiative. This new platform is destined to change R&D across biotech sectors. By combining laboratories dedicated to cell culturing, biochemistry, microbiology and the elaboration and analysis of precision fermentation-produced compounds, Protopia will provide its users with a unique environment for advanced prototyping. The shared-use platform will stand out for its ability to integrate diverse scientific and technical fields in a single place. It will not only ease interdisciplinary collaboration within any one company, but also serve as a springboard for favoring partnerships between different start-ups sharing a same field of interest.

In 2023, the SEM and GIP Genopole teams were able to launch facilities layout work and to validate equipment and technological accompaniment needs.

The new platform, integrated within Genopole’s bioeconomy sector, will play a key role in the France 2030 strategies for decarbonization and the improvement of production modalities.

Protopia is scheduled for inauguration in fall of 2024. It will enable a scientific and business accompaniment offer for all aspects concerning upscaling and preindustrialization – crucial steps for emerging biotech start-ups – and represent a significant advance for biotechnological prototyping.
