A program of accompaniment and European funding for postdoctoral projects, ApogeeBio seeks out young foreign or expatriate-French researchers.
Among them for the 2023 edition was Avtar Stain, an Indian researcher, who is joining the start-up Lamark Biotech at the Institut de la vision to develop a mammal-cell-based production process for lebecetin, a protein with therapeutic potential in age-related macular degeneration.
Binita Goswami, also from India, is joining the SABNP1 lab where she will explore molecular interactions involved in the regulation of the tumor suppressor p53 by the protein WIG-1 and the non-coding RNA miR-125b.
Jeannette Zanker, from Germany, will be working within Genethon to extend knowledge on gene transfer using adeno-associated viral vectors, determine the factors involved in different steps of the process and assess the effects of patient age in it.
Finally, Genethon will also host the Italian researcher Matteo Marcello, who is developing muscle organoids from iPS cells harvested from people with or without Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
